Here is a cheap but very effective core team: Merc Riot Guard (blitz store, very easy to get but incredibly tanky and taunty), Merc Lt (nothing to say here, he is a must have, go farm him), Yondu of course (same as Merc Lt) and Hand Sorc (she's not that good objectively but the best villain healer available). You do realize that one of them is unfarmable at the moment, one is locked behind the villains campaign itself and the third one is in Nexus/Cosmic which is out of reach for you anyway if you can't beat villains?
